My dear athletes and ski touring enthusiasts, the moment for the 2006 Alta Valtellina Ski Race has arrived and, as previously it will yet again be a World Cup Final. Our sport is changing, the media interest is much more than before, the sponsors and partners in the ski mountaineering exhibitions are more and more qualified and important, the athletes more professional and the organisers are standardising the routes and communications. These are all signs of a living, vital sport, which is interesting and exciting. We, in the Alta Valtellina have been one of the reference points in the ski mountaineering competitive world for many years, from our ranks athletes of the highest standard have emerged, who, on the ski tracks worldwide, proudly carry high the flag of our valley. The spirit which burns within us, organising this exhibition, is that of being among the leaders from an organisational point of view, it will be up to yourselves to decide if we have achieved what we have set out to do. We believe that the Ski Mountaineering World Cup Final must be marked by the presence of a large number of athletes and technicians. I wish to thank warmly the sponsoring companies, the public body representatives who support us and with especial recognition, the volunteers. I wish to remind everybody that without these three components great exhibitions could not exist.

(Ski lift Services) offer all spectators a complimentary ride on the new Santa Caterina -Vallalpe cabin-lift from 8 a.m. to 9.15 a.m.
The Società Bormio Terme (Spa Baths) in honour of the 4th Alta Valtellina Ski Race wish to offer all competitors complimentary access to the Spa Centre of Via Stelvio 14, valid for Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd, 2006. |
